Do I need to buy a domain for my shop?

In short. Yes.

A "domain" is the address of your site, you can rent a domain for a period of time (from a year to a hundred years) and it can then do your bidding! Regardless of which e-commerce solution you choose to use you will always need to buy a domain!

Simply search for Domain Name Registry and then find an available domain. It usually costs between £5 and £30 for 2 years registration depending on the domain you choose.

Hints with domain names

If someone already has the name of your company taken for their domain don't worry! It's great for SEO (The Search Engines) if your domain has the name of your product in it. For example, if you sell candles then "thecandleman.com" would be a great choice!
